Move over Zoom, use these 5 video calling apps for official meetings instead

With the ongoing coronavirus global lockdown, people\’s are using apps like Zoom for the meetings. From Google Meet to Microsoft Teams, here\’s a list of some of the best alternative video calling apps available here.

As the coronavirus pandemic has started and it affecting India, a lot of companies imposed the ‘Work from home’ culture. Not only corporates but also the global and especially our indian education sector started taking advantage of technology to bring their coaching classes  through online via various video calling apps. With such high demand was started with Zoom started popping up a lot. However, it has its fair share of it\’s security issues.

While Zoom has been already fixed most of its security vulnerabilities, and there are a ton of great options for the video conferences and online meetings. Here’s a list of best apps available,

Microsoft Teams :

Microsoft Teams is another professional meetings app and that has allows chatting among users along with the bringing features like video conferencing, support for up to 250 members and more. Also, it integrates well with other Microsoft products allowing collaboration of Office documents in between a video call.

Google Meet :

Google has recently rebranded its Google Hangouts Meet app to Google Meet. But the application is fully secure as it comes from Google. It requires a user to have a Google One account to start the meeting along with their gmail id. But, the other users do not require the same and just need an invite link instead. Using the link provided by the admin, the whole team can join. Google Meet has also brings integration for other google products.

Skype :

Skype was once quite famous among with the both professional as well as casual users. Zoom has took the thunder by offering the way to better features and allowing users to connect seamlessly without needing to create a new account or anything. Now, the skype has added a similar feature along with bringing support for up to 50 people.

WhatsApp :

Even though the WhatsApp is not a meetings focused platform, but it can also be used for small teams. WhatsApp allows group calls with up to four users. It can be great as it is easy to use and gets connected fairly quicker than the other any apps. It can be used for the quick conversations with two or three of your colleagues or your employees. Also, it is worth noting that WhatsApp is also said to soon allow more users on a group call, and it was most welcoming feature from the whatsapp.

Slack :

Slack is one of the famous platform used by many companies to manage their large teams. While the app is mostly used for text chatting, sharing important messages and moreover, users have not noticed that it even supports video calls,  and we now only found that features in this application. However, free users can only take advantage of a the normal video call instead of a group one. In order to it also have group meetings, the users will require a premium account to do that.
